The Groundskeeper expands services in Albuquerque

The Groundskeeper taps into the commercial construction market in Albuquerque with their new landscape construction division. “We’ve been providing quality, affordable landscape maintenance service in the region now for the past three years, and believe the time is right to grow again,” said The Groundskeeper’s construction manager, Paul Mueller. “We’ve hired Andy Carbone to head up our New Mexico construction division. Andy, who has worked in the New Mexico ‘green industry’ for the past 22 years, brings extensive industry experience and a wealth of knowledge about the particular challenges inherent in high desert landscape construction”. While the New Mexico construction division will focus primarily on commercial, ground-up projects in partnership with general contractors, they will also provide design-build services for all commercial clients. Call (505) 888-1727 for more information about the new construction division in New Mexico.

SUMMER SEASON TIPS

The Right Plants, The Right Place

One of the best ways to combat the extreme heat of a Southwestern summer is through proper plant selection. Before installing a tree or shrub, look at the micro-climate that it will be planted in. Extremely hot locations such as parking lot islands and against south and west facing walls require special consideration. Using plants that are best adapted to these hot locations will greatly assist in keeping your landscape looking beautiful, even under the most severe conditions.

The Bird Chaser

The Groundskeeper recently invested in an employee of the four legged variety. Bette, a beautiful border collie, joined The Groundskeeper back in March to help out with a bird invasion at the Sun River golf course in St. George, Utah. At the beginning of “operation bird chaser” Bette took to the greens a few times a day to chase the pesky birds off the course. After the first month of Bette being on the job, the birds finally left the course for calmer waters. Even though the golf course is now virtually bird free, Bette can still be seen galloping through the course patrolling the area.
